Skilled writing draws on several strands working together, and each one begins in kindergarten.
This session applies the science of writing to the primary classroom: what transcription, syntax, text structure, and critical thinking look like at ages five and six, and what students are genuinely ready for at each point.
Participants build classroom routines that develop each strand deliberately, from letter formation and encoding through oral sentences that become written ones, and leave with a picture of how the strands grow toward grade 2.
