All new teacher evaluators in Illinois need to pass the two day Teacher Evaluator Initial Training. These trainings will provide participants with the knowledge to:
* identify and disseminate minimum state requirements, performance standards and best practices
* facilitate a common language and dialogue around performance and its impact on school improvement, professional practice, and student outcomes
*encourage collaboration, learning, and alignment among stake holders
*bring a fully charged laptop

Gathering Evidence During Observations and Conferencing Using the Danielson Model (Academy #1801)

This course will allow participants to learn effective skills and strategies for using Charlotte Danielson’s Instructional Framework in an evaluation setting in order to more effectively: 1. Identify evidence at the component level during formal and informal observations; 2. Use evidence, with minimal bias, to effectively rate staff on the levels of performance for each component in domains 2 and 3; 3. Increase inter-rater reliability in all phases of the evaluation process; 4. Acquire strategies to support effective collaborative conferencing around formal and informal observations; and 5. Learn techniques, strategies, and protocols to use when conferencing with staff to promote improvement in instructional practice.

This Academy will be held FtF with a Welcome Email sent to participants approximately one week prior.

IL State Law (105 IL 128/45 sec. 45) now requires every school to have a threat assessment team established and threat assessment procedures developed and implemented. This Academy will provide an overview of the new legal requirements as well as provide you with training that is considered best practice by the US Dept of Education and the US Secret Service. Participants will be able to assess the severity of threats, analyze the safety of students and staff, and develop a plan of action to protect them. Valuable resources, including documentation, scripted protocols as well as guidance for decision making for students with IEPs, 504, and/or BIP plans and SB100 compliance are included in this course.

Objectives:
By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
*Apply the skills and information obtained by implementing the system through hands-on activities and potential threat scenarios
*Identify the specific types of threats, how to develop a student safety assessment & management team
*Use scripted protocols to handle situations with fidelity, & establish a plan for the reintegration of the student (s) into the school environment.
